Our Mission: The Matthew Vernon Poyner Memorial Foundation (MVPLegacy.org) honors Matt's life by supporting individuals and organizations whose efforts ensure that Matt's kind and loving spirit endures as an inspiration to others.

 

Our Focus: Our focus is to preserve and promote Matt’s legacy - his compassion for others, dedication to excellence, and love of competition through organized sports. In the last 8 years the foundation has awarded more than $579,000 to Matt's charities.  The foundation honors:

 

• Matt’s competitive spirit and dedication to excellence - leadership scholarships will be awarded to college-bound seniors at area high schools in communities that supported him through his formative years.

• Matt's compassionate spirit - support is awarded to the Warrior Canine Connection furthering their mission to meet the needs of Combat Veterans through the healing power of canine therapy.

• Matt's life - a fund established in Matt's name supports the work of the Johns Hopkins Medicine Myocarditis research team to develop early detection and treatment of myocarditis in otherwise healthy young people. Additional funding of the Myocarditis Foundation supports education and awareness of the disease among medical professionals.
