Matthew Vernon Poyner Memorial Golf Tournament

October 12th 2015

The first annual MVP Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament was held at Hidden Creek Country Club in Reston, VA where Matt grew up playing golf with family and friends. The event was a great success raising money for charity in Matt's name and attendees had a great time.

Seattle Mariners Honor Matt's Love of Baseball

The Seattle Mariners invited the Poyner family out to a game to honor Matt's love of baseball. John Poyner threw out the first pitch.

Ladd's host First Annual Matthew Vernon Poyner Memorial Foundation Cornhole Tournament

A great crowd gathered at the Ladd's on the afternoon of Fathers Day for a fun cornhole tournament and backyard meal in memory of Matt.

Stars Showcase Baseball Tribute

On Sunday June 7, 2015 the Stars Showcase baseball organization honored Matt before the games started that day down at the Virginia Baseball Complex in Ruther Glen, Virginia.

Langley vs McLean "Matt Poyner Memorial Game"

Matt was recognized on Monday, April 27, 2015 at The Langley High School baseball field where the Langley Saxons hosted the Mclean Highlanders. This was a special game as Matt played for many years with players from both teams through Little League and travel baseball. The team unveiled a commemorative banner in centerfield after the player introductions in honor of Matt.

Crawfish Boil at Galletes, Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Thanks to everyone who attended the Crawfish Boil at Galletes. A great time was had by all and proceeds from the event were donated to the foundation to further it's mission. Special thank you to Kappa Sigma Fraternity for organizing the event.

Great Falls Little League Opening Day Ceremony

We want to thank GFLL for honoring Matt at the opening day ceremony. We also want to thank all the volunteers for all that you did to help us run the t-shirt sale and all the people of the community who supported Matt's foundation through donations and T-shirt purchases. It was a beautiful day, we sold a lot of t-shirts, but most important, it was an opportunity for us to connect with so many people who were important in Matt’s life.

Great Falls Hoops Leadership Scholarship Named After Matt

On Saturday, March 7, GF Hoops awarded the Matthew Poyner Youth Leadership Scholarship to four high school seniors from the Great Falls community. The scholarship was named for Matthew Poyner, a sophomore at Langley High School who quietly passed away in his sleep on Feb. 24, 2015.
