Highlights from MVP Memorial Game

 

The game was a close, hard-fought competition with Mclean edging Langley 1-0.

 

The following tribute was read after player introductions:

 

"Today we are here to honor the great baseball career and life of the late Langley baseball player, Matt Poyner. The Langley-Mclean rivalry baseball game has been on the calendars of many this season, especially Matt's. Matt and his teammates constantly texted and talked about the upcoming season and upcoming games against cross town rival Mclean. Matt's passion on and off the baseball field will be reflected today through the play and his closest friends and teammates in the game Matt valued most."

 

This moving tribute was capped off by the unveiling of the MVP Remembrance banner in centerfield. Matt's presence was felt throughout the game and with the appearance of a rainbow in the 6th inning. 

 

Thanks go out to Coach Kevin Healy and the Saxon baseball program and to all the players and coaches for making Matt a special part of this game.
