Joe Hortons Daytona 100 Ultramarathon Fundraiser

Joe Horton is an ultramarathoner and the father of a Stars baseball player. When Joe learned of Matt's story and reflected on his own relationship with his son, Jackson, he wanted to do something to help the MVP Memorial Foundation. Joe raised over $30,000 for Matt's foundation by running the Daytona 100 Ultramarathon on December 10th in under 30 hours.
Matthew Vernon Poyner Memorial Golf Tournament

The second annual MVP Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament was held at Hidden Creek Country Club in Reston, VA where Matt grew up playing golf with family and friends. The event was a great success raising money for charity in Matt's name and attendees had a great time.

Matt’s foundation recently presented $1,500 leadership awards to three well-rounded high school seniors who model the traits we valued in Matt - compassion for others, strong work ethic and a passion for excellence in endeavors outside the classroom.

On February 24, 2016 we marked the one-year anniversary of Matt’s death by funding the Matthew Poyner MVP Memorial Myocarditis Research Fund.
