Spring 2017 MVP Memorial Foundation Leadership Awards

Paul VI Catholic High School – MVP Leadership Award winner Margaret Cornejo will attend Elon University.

Matt was a 16-year-old sophomore at Langley High School when he died of viral myocarditis.  He was a promising baseball player, a respected student and a friend to many throughout Northern Virginia.  He also attended Paul VI Catholic High School as a freshman and played baseball with the Stars Baseball organization.

Along with supporting veterans causes and funding research and awareness around myocarditis, Matt’s foundation recently presented $2,000 leadership awards to four well-rounded high school seniors who model the traits we valued in Matt - compassion for others, strong work ethic and a passion for excellence in endeavors outside the classroom.

In the past few weeks we presented our second year of  MVP Foundation Leadership Awards to: Margaret Cornejo of Paul VI High School, Nick Stewart of Rock Ridge High School, Alex Ladd of Langley High School and  Sarah Van Houten of Langley High School.

Congratulations to these students who are role models and to their great families.

Stars Baseball – Rock Ridge High School senior, Nick Stewart, will attend and play baseball at James Madison University.
Langley High School – Recipient Alex Ladd is headed to  Liberty University and recipient Sarah Van Houten is headed to Univeristy of Texas.
